EPIC ALERT! CASCADES WILL BE UBER DEEP IN THE NEXT 5 DAYS!

Powderchasers.com

EPIC ALERT hoisted for nearly continuous snowfall lowering temperatures, good density over the next 5 days in the Cascades. Heavy snow is currently falling in the central and north Cascades (Stevens, Pass to Baker).  Mount baker has seen over 40 inches in the past week and just hit 100 inches mid mountain YTD.   Snow density has been fairly wet.  Trend will be for lower densities throughout the night into next week.

TIMING:

Snow will be falling every 24 hours.  Heavy snow today over the Northwest willl taper late tonight.  The next round of heavy snow will start mid morning in the Mount Hood area and by Noon at Crystal working it’s way north towards Stevens and Baker in the afternoon.  Snowfall will intensify Saturday night (9-15 inches strong winds).   Lift issues likely late Saturday in the south Cascades and most areas Sunday AM.   Snowfall will increase again Sunday night into Monday and again Tusday night.  Wednesday will show a general decrease in snow intesities.  Winds will be an issue with each passing wave so timing will be critical with short windows!   Most of the action will also impact central and northern Idaho early in the week.

ROCKIES?   Cold air and light to moderate snow will be falling Sunday night in most areas of the Tetons, Wasatch and northern Colorado.  Heavy snow is possible towards teh end of next week (Thursday-Friday).  I especially like the Tetons and Wasatch during that period.
