A Michigan-based snowmaking company, SMI Snow Makers, is using the latest technology to create snow for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Their machines create snow crystals that are like two-week-old snow from Mother Nature. But while Mother Nature takes hours or days to manufacture the crystals, SMI’s machines make the snow in 3 to 15 seconds. – National Geographic
