POWDER ALERTS CONTINUE INTO THE WEEKEND

19 inches has fallen at Mount Baker Ski Area in the Cascades overnight, 8 at Stevens Pass,and slightly less at Crystal Mountain. Light snow is falling in the Tetons this morning (3 inches at Jackson) and will intensify by 9AM.
The Wasatch will start to see snow in the northern Wasatch early this AM, and into the Central Wasatch near Park City, Brighton, Solitude, Snowbasin, Powder Mountain and Alta by 11 AM. Snowfall rates will be 2-3 inches per hour at the highest elevations with storm totals in the 6-10 inch range by 7PM. Central and Northern Idaho is in the Bullseye today as well as in the extended forecast where Sun Valley and areas north can see significant snowfall today. Snow picks up again by Friday morning in the Wasatch and Tetons.
Colorado reaps high rewards this afternoon and evening with 7-12 inches likely from steamboatthrough Vail and Summit County 6-10 near Aspen, and 3-5 in Crested Butte. Some snow is possible as far south as Durango and Silverton.

Extended: More snow moves into the Cascades on Friday- with significant moisture and wind (50-60 MPH gusts). Snow will be very heavy at the highest peaks in the north (Above 6,000 feet) with a rain event for areas to the south. Snow levels lower Sunday AM with snow likely Sunday-Monday as colder air moves overhead. Significant high elevation snowfall continues in the Northwest, central and northern Idaho trending colder Sunday/Monday (Sunday might be your best day with colder temperatures). The Tetons, central Idaho and Wasatch will will see another 5-10 inches Friday morning with moves into Colorado by the afternoon and evening.
The strongest and final wave is due into the Rockies Saturday Afternoon with very high winds (Lift closures likely at upper elevations) and snow. The Tetons, Wasatch, and northern Colorado will all see heavy snowfall into Sunday. These area can easily pick up another 7-12 inches during this period with winds possibly impacting lift operations late Saturday or early Sunday.
