Breckenridge Ski Resort officials are reporting that three guests were caught in an in-bounds avalanche last week.

The slide occurred near the summit of the Imperial Express Super Chair between Peaks 7 and 8 on Whale’s Tail last Thursday afternoon. The avalanche struck shortly after patrollers opened the run for the first time this season. None of the guests reported any injury, according to resort spokesperson Kristen Pettit Stewart.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) is investigating the incident, but staffers were redeployed to nearby Vail Mountain to investigate Tuesday’s fatal avalanche in the East Vail Chutes. Breckenridge officials have promised to share the CIAC report once it becomes available.
