On December 31, 2013, a backcountry tourer was killed in an avalanche on Parkview Mountain, west of Willow Creek Pass. CAIC staff visited the site on January 1 and updated the preliminary report. We extend our sincere condolences to family and friends.
One backcountry traveler was killed in an avalanche on December 31, 2013. The avalanche was near Parkview Mountain, west of Willow Creek Pass (Steamboat Zone). A preliminary report is available, and CAIC staff will visit the site on January 1. This was the third avalanche fatality in the US for 2013-14.
