POWDER ALERT-CASCADES- 4-9 INCHES SHORT TERM, BETTER STORM MID NEXT WEEK

Powderchasers.com

SNOW will move into the Cascades this afternoon through Friday morning with low snow levels bringing modest amounts from base areas to the summits.  This will be a low end advisory with perhaps 5-9 inches through Friday AM.  The central and north Cascades will be favored.    Another storm will impact the region this weekend with higher snow levels and slightly lower amounts (3-6).   Coastal BC might fare better this Saturday when snow increases by late in the day (5-10).   Long term models show a stronger system possible in the Northwest mid next week. This will push through the Rockies (Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah) by the end of next week.  That storm has cold air and the potential for a decent storm for many areas of the West. Chases will be likely!

Do I dare to stab a guess at Christmas week?  Models are not accurate that far out but current trends show moisture aimed at Northern British Columbia extending into the interior possibly getting as far south as Kicking Horse or Fernie by XMAS day.   The Rockies may see some light snow but most of the action may stay north.
