HEAVY POWDER STILL ON TRACK FOR THE WEST

Light snow is falling over the Wasatch this morning. Heavy snow is falling over the Cascades. All ingredients for significant dumpage are coming together for southern BC, Northern and Central Cascades, and Mount Hood (11-20 fresh). Crystal Mountain will see moderate amounts (9-11) while Baker and Stevens see slightly higher totals (12-18). Inland Washington Resorts to the Idaho and Western border with Montana (9-14) will do very well.
POW will break out over a wide path of the Rockies tonight and Saturday as very cold air and strong winds track directly over Central Idaho (Sun Valley-6-10), and into the Tetons (8-10,Grand Targhee and Jackson). The Wasatch (9-14) gets deep by late Saturday evening. Areas near the Canyons, Park City, Deer Valley will see accumulating snowfall (4-7).
The San Juan’s of Colorado grab moisture from the south in a secondary low that will blastSilverton, Durango, Crested Butte, Telluride and Aspen Friday PM through Saturday AM. Snowfall amounts should be as high as 16 inches near Silverton and slightly less towards Durango and the Butte. Aspen is further north and might reap the rewards from the early snow tonight and a wind shift Saturday night to the NW. Heavy snow will fall over I-70 from Vail toSummit County including Steamboat late Saturday through Sunday morning (7-11). Amounts might be less near Loveland Pass? Light snow will be falling in New Mexico this weekend.
