Resort officials at Cockaigne ski resort have reported the theft of more than $5,000 worth of snowmaking equipment. The Chautauqua County sheriff’s office has reported that 8 feet of snowmaking pipe and an SMI snow gun where taken from the New York ski resort sometime within the past week.

Cockaigne ski resort has seen a number of thefts as well as acts of vandalism since the resort closed following the 2010-2011 ski season. The unlawful behavior is hampering attempts to sell the resort.

The Chautauqua County sheriff’s office is requesting that anyone with any information regarding the recent thefts contact 800-78-CRIME or provide confidential tips at (716) 753-4498 or (716) 753-2131.
