September Powder Alert - Cascades, BC Alpine

Significant September storm will impact the Cascades and upper alpine of British Columbia over the next several days. Over 5 inches of rain has fallen on Mount Baker since Friday. Colder air will move down from Canada late today and Monday dropping snow levels to the bases. Upper elevations of Whistler Mountain could receive an excess of 3 feet by Tuesday morning. Mount Baker will see upper elevation snow in the 18 -26 in range by Tuesday morning. The coldest air will arrive Monday afternoon and Tuesday bringing dry densities to the peaks and low elevation snow. Extreme wind will accompany this storm with significant drifting at ridge tops. Areas in the central and southern Cascades will also receive snowfall with lesser amounts. other areas that will receive snowfall are the higher peaks near Sun Valley and Galena Summit

The extended POW cast looks for continued moisture through most of next week for the Northwest. Snow levels will be rising so additional rainfall is likely.
