Salt Lake City, Utah (March 8, 2013)- The first ever Junior Freeride World Championships by The North Face will come to Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, Utah April 3-7, 2013. The event features top youth skiers and snowboarders from around the world in exciting big mountain competition. European freeriders qualified through the DAKINE Freeride Juniors will join their North American peers on Snowbird’s legendary terrain.

In order to accommodate more local riders, the Junior Freeride Tour (JFT) has opened registration for this final stop of the 2013 Junior Freeride Tour as well. Registration is now open to all junior freeride athletes interested in competing in this year’s event. Along with the open registration, all 2013 current JFT athletes who competed at Crystal Mountain, WA and Squaw Valley, CA will be prequalified along with all athletes from the 2012-13 JFT prequalified list. These prequalified junior freeride athletes will have priority over new registrations. Open registration fee is $75 USD.

Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort has been a marquee destination for freeriders from all over the world for years,” said JFT Tour Director Jeff Berman. “The resort’s heritage in this sport has been pivotal in the development of modern big mountain competition. Athletes from all over the world will be in attendance making this a true Junior World Championship.”

The JFT is committed to the progression, promotion and development of premier level youth freeride competition. JFT events provide athletes with the highest quality events and most developed judging system enabling athletes to develop their skills and abilities while making better decisions both on and off the slopes. JFT focuses on providing competition and education opportunities for top-level junior freeriders, age 15-17, as they prepare to transition into adult competition. The JFT achieves this mission through its longstanding experience, committed and knowledgeable staff, and partnership with the Freeride World Tour.
