Today was the best day in months at Squaw Valley. Just about everything opened at 9 a.m. and the powder was delicious.  In the morning the visibility was quite low but improved throughout the day. The snow density was just what we needed, not too heavy but not too light. There were a few spots that were a bit crusty like at the top of north bowl and in high traffic areas but the predominant conditions were powder and packed powder.  It was a fantastic day and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

This morning there was a mad scramble to get to the upper mountain.  But truth be told, the upper mountain was not skiing any better than the lower mountain.

Whats the deal with Silverado? It has not been opened in weeks!

Some of the best skiing I found today was off the Westface and under the Alternates. The high winds had reset much of the lower mountain and the skiing was great! It was also nice that everyone had taken off to the upper mountain making for virtually no wait at KT.

I heard more than one person today talking about how badly they needed some powder skiing. Today was a super fun day and much needed.
