A winter storm will impact the Sierra and western Nevada beginning tonight and continuing through Wednesday. Snowfall will be limited to the highest Sierra passes above 7000 feet where up to 6 inches of snow are possible by Wednesday night. The heaviest snow will fall Wednesday morning into early Wednesday afternoon. A mix of rain and snow is expected across the Tahoe Basin with no accumulations expected at lake level. Gusty winds will occur across all areas with dangerous boating on area lakes. High profile vehicles can expect dangerous cross winds on Wednesday. Areas of blowing dust may reduce visibility across the Nevada Basin and Range Wednesday afternoon.
