A storm system will move over the Sierra and western Nevada Tuesday night and Wednesday, bringing light to moderate rain and snow to the Sierra, mainly near the crest, along with stronger ridge top winds. In western Nevada, windy conditions can be expected Tuesday night in the foothills, then spreading into the valleys on Wednesday. Gusts of 40 mph or higher are likely, with higher gusts in wind prone locations and foothills. Light rain will be possible but amounts are unlikely to be significant. High temperatures will drop to the 40s in the Sierra valleys by Wednesday. In western Nevada, Thursday is likely to be the coolest day this week with highs in the 50s. Dry conditions are expected to return by late Thursday and continue for several days, with temperatures warming into the mid 60s in western Nevada by next weekend.  US National Weather Service Reno
