It was a brisk morning on 12-12-12 in the LCC as two crews waited patiently to catch an early Collins chair at Alta. Our gang comprised of Altabird.com chief Matt Wolfe, young ripper Dillon Green, LCC OG Ron Mason and myself. The other group was made up mostly of Dubsatch Collective members including Leo Ahrens, Jonny Collinson, Christian Mandahl and Nate Cahoon.  The final member of their posse was the ageless photog extraordinaire Lee Cohen. After a brief delay both squads headed towards Rocky Point via the Supreme chair.

Dillon Green found some soft stuff in the area under B-Frame.

As it often happens the light totally disappeared just as we got to our shooting zone.  That is life..

We decided to hike a few laps in rocky anyway to see if we could make it happen even without Mother Natures help. The other crew took one photo near us and headed off to scope lines for another day when conditions and light would be more optimal. After three laps of given er’ with less than perfect light and snow we had captured a few solid images and then we also called it.

Overall it was a great day to be out hiking around with some new and old friends in the Wasatch. It was a good reminder of how tough it can be to get that great shot that we hunt for. It was also a great reminder of how important your gear and clothing are to having a quality day. Make sure to dress it right this winter and to have all your gear dialed before you get too deep into the woods. See you out there!
