Blackcomb Report: Stormy, Powdery, Foggy, & Fun

BLACKCOMB CONDITIONS TODAY:

• Stormy, snowy, foggy, Powdery, and windy up high
• Windy up top and snowing moderately
• Calm wind and snowing lightly on both mid-mountain and lower-mountain
• The snow is pilling up fast up top and everything is soft and powdery
• Great soft snow conditions all over the upper mountain
• Tough visibility anywhere out of the trees
• -14ºC at the top, -9ºC at mid-mt, -2º in the village @ 2pm

WHERE THE BEST SKIING WAS TODAY:

• To be honest, we aren’t exactly sure…
• It was good all over, but somewhere likely shined bright today
• Everything off Crystal Chair and Glacier Express was good
• No one out in the Glacier Chair zone
• Great powder moguls off Glacier and chopped up powder right under the chair

CROWD FACTOR:

• Some lines on lower and mid-mountain, no lines on upper mountain
• The Blackcomb gondola had a 10+ minute line in the morning.
• Whistler gondola had a line the extended out past the maze a ways in the am
• Excelerator had a 10 minute early
• Glacier Express had no line today
• Jersey Cream had a 1-2 minute line
• Peak 2 Peak had no line
• The holidays have started, but most of the activity today was in the village
• There was no one up high on the hill

WHAT WAS CLOSED TODAY: 

• Blackcomb had 7^th Heaven and the T-Bars closed due to wind
• Whistler had Symphony and Peak Chair closed for the storm

A-LINE:

– A-Line over at Whistler was still good today but a bit slow due to the new snow.  Fun that you can hit the table-tops and land in the fresh snow on the side of the run.
