West Coast Wednesday Report – April 4 2012

This week in the West Coast Wednesday Report we talk about whats going on in the Vancouver BC area on the Canadian West Coast. We some good and some bad news for Mount Seymour Resort skiers and riders, and some current conditions and a weather forecast for the coming week. We also have a video recap of Grouse Mountains, Showdown Over The City by Andrew Santos.

Mount Seymour: The Good and The Bad.

Mount Seymour Resort has officially released some awesome news for those who local Seymour; they will be replacing the Mystery Peak chair with a High Speed Quad Chair. After decades of low speed two person chairs, this is huge news for those who ski and ride Seymour as it will cut lift lines and ride times by more than half! So good by to slow chairs and long lines, break downs and uncomfortable back rests, and say hello to more laps, shorter lines and lots more fun! For those who buy a seasons pass, prices will remain the same as the past season

The bad news is that despite a snowpack of 600cm at the summit, Mount Seymour will be closing mid-April in order to begin construction on the new quad chair. That means 2 more weeks of skiing and riding before we have either break out the shovels and hike the rails, or make our way to other mountains. Mount Seymour now has new operation hours as well: Midweek: 11:00am – 8:00pm Weekend: 9:00am – 5:00pm.

You can also check the crash reel of the event also by Andrew, because the snow was slow, and undershooting the massive tables was common:

Current Conditions and Weather Forecast

With the spring weather getting warmer and warmer the snow is slowly turning to rain here on the West Coast. Snow conditions should look as follows for the next week or so:

  • Temperatures on the mountains rising from around Zero up to near 10 degree Celsius over the weekend.
  • April is looking to be a good month for Spring sun and riding in Tee’s

As the season winds down, and snow begins to melt, make sure you have tons of fun!
