Skiing, in Mexico?

Skiing, in Mexico!? Yep, you heard that right. Skiing in Mexico! Iztaccihuatl 17,159′ and Pico De Orizaba 18,491′ are just two of Mexico’s skiable peaks. Frozen Salsa, a film by David Rasmussen, follows four american skiers on a mission to conquer Mexico’s snow covered mountains.

I’ve gotten to climb to El Pico de Orizaba twice and it’s honestly one of the most incredible trips I’ve ever been on. Go in the end of November and you can party with the locals for 7 days straight for their revolution anniversary festival. And I mean 24 hours/day for 7 days. Firework fights, guys in scary costumes bull whipping each other, huge marching band performances, kids in crazy costumes doing random tricks, and non-stop dancing. Mexico is by far my favorite country.

Very cool, guys! Having climbed Popocatepetl when it was dormant, I’ve always believed that skiing is possible in Mexico, and now you’ve proved that it can be done.
