This video is a pretty good reminder to pay attention to where you’re standing at all times. According to Daryl Treadway, his day went something like this.
“Woke at 4:30 and was sledding up the glacier by 7 with my buddy Joe. We rode 2 fun runs, cutting the edge off cornices to sneak in. I had used these entrances before and knew where I could stand, so I was on a rock when the whole cornice ripped off as I was cutting my slot. Pretty scary, but reassuring that were in the safer places, both on the ridge and on our runs. We made it home by 11 AM, making happy wives, and calling it a season.”
Pretty Scary? Thank god he had his wits about him, I’m pretty certain I would have ruined my snow pants.
