This video is just a little view of what goes on in the terrain just outside of Jackson Hole’s boundaries.  Anyone that watches ski porn has seen the pros properly ride this playground. Unfortunately, events like these happen on a more regular basis.

Pretty much anytime of day throughout the winter, it is hard to avoid the lack of knowledge/skill running around the sidecounrty of Jackson.  Why is it that Jackson seems to attract such lack of respect for the mountains?  Is it because the open gate policy, film companies like TGR or just plain stupidity?

It may be fun to watch and heckle these want-to-be rippers, but the truth is, they may ruin the fun for everyone else.  Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is nice enough to allow backcountry access through set gates. It hasn’t always been like this, nor does it have to stay this way.   The more gapers making foolish decisions outside the gates increase the risk of JHMR shutting our access to the wonderful terrain just outside the ropes.  So please, people get some knowledge and or skill before trying to slay the backcountry.  Not only could you ruin it for everyone else, but it could put a quick end to your riding career.

Video:

-Filmed in two runs one afternoon

-Most of Breakneck footage is at 400-800% speed, because no one has that kind of time

-First skier down Breakneck didn’t mean to air last cliff.  He lost his ski above and fell over.

-Skier 2 and 3 eventually got down Breakneck
