55 degrees Fahrenheit in Tahoe today…again. Wow, the good snow cycle was short. That last storm series got us feeling good again and we could only assume that Miracle March was on.
Now we are back to highs in the 50s most the week:

“Right now it looks like the departing high pressure will keep most of the precip next weekend to our North with the moisture associated with the trailing front falling apart. It may act as the fullback clearing the way for the next storm next Tuesday as a long-wave trough sets up off the coast. Just about all of the forecast models show the upstream ridge setting up out around 160-170w Northwest of Hawaii allowing a couple of bigger storm to come into CA next week. AFTER SATURDAY, MODELS ARE IN GOOD AGREEMENT WITH DEEP LONGWAVE TROUGH DEVELOPING IN THE GULF OF ALASKA, ALTHOUGH THE DETAILS REMAIN FUZZY. THIS TROUGH WILL BRING BETTER CHANCES OF MOISTURE INTO THE SIERRA FOR SUNDAY-MONDAY, THUS HAVE INCREASED POPS FOR THE THOSE PERIODS. THERE IS STILL A LOT OF UNCERTAINTY IN HOW FAR INLAND THE TROUGH WILL EXTEND INTO NORTHERN CA/NV AND HOW MUCH MOISTURE WE WILL GET. THE TIMING MAY EASILY GET PUSHED BACK TO MONDAY-TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK, SO FORECASTER CONFIDENCE REMAINS LOW AT THIS TIME. – NOAA.gov
Yes, we understand this isn’t exactly the kind of forecast to put the words Miracle and March together…but we need something in Tahoe to get us fired up. And if it does come thru for us this difficult year, it truly would be a Miracle.
