god medal performance in ski super pipe
David Wise takes gold in Aspen, CO.

Reno, NV native, David Wise delivers a Gold Medal performance in the SuperPipe at the Winter X Games in Aspen, CO. How impressive was Wise’s first place run? The overall level of competition in SuperPipe has reached extraordinary heights; all of this year’s X Games competitors laid down runs that would have crushed anything put up as little as 2 years ago.

For Wise to walk away with Gold, you know he would have to deliver something special… and that he did. Wise kicked off his run with the technically difficult switch double-cork 1080, finished with a double-cork 1260 and stomped out heaps of style on everything in-between.

Just moments before Wise was to take his second run fellow competitor Justin Dorey went down hard, smacking the lip as he attempted a huge double-cork 1260. Wise refocused, shut out any distracting thoughts (like Dorey getting crushed on the very same trick David was to finish his run with) and put up his best score of the day, a 93. On his 3rd and final run, Noah Bowman did all he could to best Wise, but his score of 90 wouldn’t do.

Congrats David – a mind-blowing performance on the the world’s biggest stage. Well done!
