Better vis than when I was up there.

It was a windy/snowy one at Snowbird and Alta today. So windy/snowy in fact that it reminded me of a big mid-Winter storm like the ones that we have not gotten yet all year. The snow was not stacking up like it does when the forces align and the lake effect kicks in, but it was snowing and that is a good start. There were pockets of pow between moguls and in some tree sheltered areas like the Skate Park Gully that were nicer than anything we have seen in over a week. Conditions at Alta were even better with Wildcat delivering the best goods as usual. There are more rocks and sticks and things than we are used to seeing at this point in the season, but that is cool because it just makes you better at doing your thing right? It was also very cold today so bundle up and watch your friends for frostbite.

This storm was not supposed to drop to much of the white on us; however, I was informed by a friend that there was about 8″ on his car when he left Snowbird at 10:30pm last night. Can you say “First Pow day in a while!” Get the fat sticks (one or two) out of the closet and plan of riding them tomorrow. Maybe it will be a sleeper and you will be able to shred pow all day long!

Big Emma
Big Emma looking nasty as usual.

The forecasters are calling for small accumulations tonight and tomorrow, but I have this feeling that we may be surprised on the plus side. There is always good snow around Christmas in Utah and I see no reason for this year to be different. I think a White Christmas in in our near future and that this season is going to get kicked off real soon. I believe that everyone waiting so patiently is going to pay off and old man Clause is going to deliver.
