I say old chap, I could sure use a discounted season pass?

I say old chap, I could sure use a discounted season pass. How ‘bout you, sir?

Squaw Valley is clearly concerned about the top 1% of Americans.  So much so, that they have extended a $100 discount on their regular season passes for this winter to the San Francisco Bay Area elite.

KSL certainly doesn’t have plans to offer any discounts to the sniveling, struggling American that loves to ski.  He can figure out how to pay full price.

But, if you’re a member of one of the most elite athletic clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area, you clearly deserve a discount.

The Top 1% reaction to Squaw season pass discounts

The Clubs that are involved in this deal are all owned by Western Athletic Clubs, which was acquired by KSL on March 7th, 2008 So, it makes sense on some level that KSL is giving these guys a discount.  But, it still may very well hurt your feelings that people who are very likely in or around the top 1% of the nation – who are paying a $1900 initiation fee and $2880 per year to “go to the gym” – are getting a discount on a Squaw season pass and you aren’t.

The Pacific Athletic Club at Redwood Shores needs a discount!

Which clubs were they offering the discount to?

– The Bay Club

– The San Francisco Tennis Club

– The Pacific Athletic Club Redwood Shores

– The Courtside Club

– The Decathlon Club

– $1,900 initiation fee + $2,880 per year to join these clubs

Does KSL gotcha feeling like this guy?

The funniest thing about this “Top 1% Discount” is that Squaw sent out an email with the codes to get these season pass discounts and it got poached like a newby in KT line.  Each of these 5 clubs had a discount code for $100 off a Silver Season Pass.  Someone quickly figured out that if you used all 5 of the discount codes, you could stack the discounts and get a pass for only $99.  Naturally, that information became a viral email and many Bay Area people got $99 Squaw Valley Season Passes.

Squaw figured out what was going on and put the kibosh on that.  But, we still think they honored the “Top 1% Discount” for people who used the codes correctly.
