After charging hard through the not-pow-lines of Ikea, Costco and Canadian Tire on Monday, the Extremely Canadian and Columbia Omni-Heat® party at Merlin’s was much needed change from the day of big box stores, and they hooked it up.

Extremely Canadian is a Whistler-based company that “offers Whistler’s only Steep Skiing Clinics, private ski instruction, and guided all-inclusive ski adventures to exotic locations around the globe” and has been doing so since 1997. This company is no ski school; it is in fact quite badass and when they claim to provide epic ski adventures in “exotic location” they aren’t lying.

Columbia

Since the beginning, Columbia has been a key sponsor of Extremely Canadian, and this party showed off their Omni-Heat® line, and especially the new “electric powered thermal technology [that] gives you the power to get warm at the push of a button”. This Omni-Heat® technology in new Columbia gloves and boots was worn by roaming models at the party and after trying some of the product on, it seems to work. One could pick these Omni-Heat® models out of the crowd because [A] they were good looking and [B] the Omni-Heat® button glows different colors depending on how hot you want your paws to be. Columbia says you can get 4-6 hours of continuous heat out of this technology and I know that it works for at least 4 hours because I tried on one of the models sweaty gloves just before heading home to wait for the next day’s powder.

The finger food was impressive there, drinks were on hand, and the Jäger ice luge was certainly used, but Columbia stepped the event up a notch when every person left with a brand new jacket of their choice and an Omni-Heat® base layer. Way to go Columbia and Extremely Canadian, I’m a fan!
