Alta lift ticket from 1984...big brother? photo: ticketstubcollection.com

Alta will be offering a $25 ($30 if you don’t have an RFID card) 2:30pm to 4:30pm ski pass.  This will be great in the spring for people wanting to go out into the backcountry.  It’s almost like the old “one ride” passes that a lot of ski areas used to have in Utah.  Brighton used to have $8 one ride tickets that you could use to get one lift ride up to access the backcountry.

Another target audience will be destination skiers.  Once skiers arrive at the SLC airport (only 33 miles away) they’ll have time to make it up to Alta by 2:30pm and can ski the last two hours of the day on a discounted pass.

Alta, November 9th, 2011

We think this is a cool development.  We’d like to see more ski resorts doing this.

Alta will be Open for the season beginning November 18th, 2011.
