Snowmaking at Loveland, CO today
Snowmaking at Loveland, CO today

A few hours after Arapahoe Basin, CO announced their opening day will be tomorrow, Loveland, CO decided they were gonna open on Friday.

Loveland and A-Basin are just down the road from each other giving skiers in that area a lot to choose from.  Especially compared to everyone else in every other area in North America.

Loveland’s excuse for not beating out A-Basin?

“Warm weather delayed the start of snowmaking, but cold temperatures settled in and our snowmaking crew has done a great job making up for lost time,” said Rob Goodell, Loveland’s Director of Business Operations.  “We still have some work to do, but the mountain looks great and we will have 18 inches of snow from tree-to-tree for skiers and riders on Friday morning.”

Tree-to-tree?  Ah, you mean “White Stripe of Death,”  which is actually pretty fun this time of year.
