Praxis Skis, locally owned and operated out of Lake Tahoe, is still holding their annual pre-season sale. What’s even better is we have a coupon code that’ll get you an extra 10% off!

So are you ready for the code? Well get a pen and some paper, cause it’s really convoluted.

Ready?

UNOFFICIAL

That’s it. Enter that code in the online store when you pick your skis and head to checkout, and you’ll get 10% off an already ridiculously low price for a brand-spanking new pair of high quality sticks.

If you missed Miles post last month, documenting Squaw shredder Kevin O’Meara killing it in South America, check it out here.

Kevin is a coach for the Squaw Freeride Team, and helps his cousin Keith run Praxis. Drew Tabke won the Freeride World Tour last year on Praxis skis, and Kevin is basically one of the radder dudes to watch, or try and keep up with at Squaw. He consistently sends everything on the hill; with style.

These guys wouldn’t rock’em if they didn’t perform as well as they do. Praxis makes some of the best skis out there, and you’d be stoked to get on a pair if you haven’t already, especially if you’re looking for something new this season.

Like many Squaw skiers, I will forever be indebted to Shane for many things, especially for his creative thoughts and designs with the tools we use to ski powder. I held on to skiing Spatula’s for as long as I could until I knew I had to find something else to thrash since my Spatchies were finally falling apart. Praxis Powderboards have been the answer. They are the single most fun tool I’ve ever used in the most ideal environment  possible-deep pow. But they also ski everything else well too, which is pretty amazing considering how well they excel in fresh, deep snow. I even skied them this July on Lassen, just because they’re that much fun.

I personally haven’t ridden the rest of the Praxis line, but do yourself a favor and check out what Keith has on tap. With so many options these days for buying new skis cost is always an issue. But whether you’re a frugal ski bum, or  just trying to keep the high cost of skiing down in general, I challenge you to find a better deal out there. Seriously, a brand new pair of skis for as little as $550, and with our coupon, less than $500? Tack on that you’re buying a locally produced and manufactured tool from the Sierra Nevada to use in the Sierra Nevada; it’s just a win-win (they work outside of the Sierra too, see Kevin and Drew for examples).

I have a good friend who’s been riding the Freeride skis as his backcountry setup and loves them. If you want more personalized beta and critique on Praxis skis surf around the Internet, especially on the TGR forums and you’ll get as much info as you want. Maybe the coolest thing about Praxis is that somehow, even though they’ve grown in the past few years, Keith is about as personable as a guy can be for someone running a ski manufacturing business. Email him any questions you have, and he’ll get back to you as soon as he can, and try to dial you in on everything you’re looking for in your next ski purchase. Try that with one of the big ski companies out there.

So there you have it. Lots of happy people out there on the skis, and even some of the harder chargers around, like Drew and Kevin, owning wherever they slide on Praxis Skis. A great product, locally owned and operated, and pretty stinking cheap.

If you’re looking for new skis this winter, AND LOOKING FOR AN ALTERNATIVE TO MASS PRODUCED SKIS FROM THE BIG DOGS, keep your business in the Basin, and give Praxis a shot. You won’t regret it!!!!
