Shed Brewery Stowe

The hallowed Shed Restaurant & Brewery will be closing their doors at the end of October, a day that will surely be very sad for any ski bum, local, or tourist that ever stepped inside this classic “ski” bar. From their free popcorn, Barn-burgers, and daily chalk-board specials to their Beer Shot Ski and infamous Mountain Ale, this place is legendary in the East Coast ski community.

The Shed owners, Ken and Kathy Strong say that they were not offered a chance to renew their lease and that they are going to look for a new space in Stowe for their business. This is the good news and hopefully they can rebuild this local landmark, something they have done in the past. The Shed first opened on Rt. 108 in 1965 and had to rebuild in 1994 after the original building burned one January night to the ground.

Kathy Strong was quoted in Seven Days saying, “If this cannot be our home anymore, then we feel we owe it to so many people that have a special place in our heart to find a new home. Our loyal employees and patrons have made the Shed what it is, and that’s a great feeling.”

A new restaurant will open in the Shed’s former space called Crop Bistro, a local-use farm to table concept restaurant.
