Squaw is gearing up for another fun weekend in the Village with their Peaks and Paws event. With help from the Donner Truckee Veterinary Hospital, and proceeds to benefit the Truckee-Tahoe Humane Society, this weekend is for the dogs at Squaw Valley.

Actually, there’s a lot of fun for the people too. Check out what Squaw’s got on tap for this Saturday and Sunday:

Treat your dog to the best weekend featuring live music and on-mountain fun- all benefiting the Truckee-Tahoe Humane Society! Enjoy Art, Wine & Beer Tasting, Doggy Vendors, Outdoor Activities, Bark-B-Q and continuous live bluegrass. 12 Wineries will be offering tastings the entire weekend from 5 to 8 PM. $25 ticket, per day, includes a commemorative glass.  The Lagunitas beer tasing will be from 2 to 8pm, $4 per beer.

Activities:

NEW! Squaw Dog Search and Rescue Demo: Saturday 2pm – Cusing Pond area.

Mutt Strut – Saturday, 11am – A 3k walk or run that starts at Squaw Dogs in the Village. Race with your dog or run alone for prizes including Squaw Valley lift tickets and apparel. Registration is $5, starts at 10am at Squaw Dogs, and benefits the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.

Fetch Fest – Sunday, 3pm – Who can get the most tennis balls out of Cushing Pond? Find out at the “Fetch Fest.” We’ll dump a lot of tennis balls into the pond, set a timer, and see which dog can fetch the most balls.  Prizes include Squaw Valley lift tickets and a pet pass. Registration is $5 benefitting the Humane Society and begins at 2pm at the Cushing Pond. .

Hike with Your Pup on Saturday, 1pm – Take a guided hike from High Camp and enjoy the late season wildflowers and the big views of Lake Tahoe as your pup romps in the wide open. We are offering a $10 discount to ride the cable car specifically for this hike. Use code 3072 at the ticket window. Hike is Saturday August 27 at 1pm and is approximately 1 hour.

Hike with Your Pup on Sunday, 12:50pm – Shirley Canyon is still full of wildflowers, streams, and waterfalls. It’s paradise for people and dogs. This guided hike starts in front of the Cable Car and heads up Shirley Canyon. Meeting time is 12:50 in front of the Cable Car on Sunday August 28 and the hike is approximately 1 hour.

  • 1pm Start – Hike with your pet up Shirley Canyon. Meet in front of the Cable Car at 12:50pm
  • 3pm Start- Fetch Fest at Cushing Pond
