Challenge for a Cause:
The Lake Tahoe Backcountry Vertical Challenge was created by Alpenglow Sports in 2010 as a fun, informal competition geared towards backcountry skiing enthusiasts in Northern California. The goal is to appeal to the passion that makes Lake Tahoe North America’s epicenter for backcountry skiing and riding. Simultaneously it capitalizes on the tremendous growth and excitement currently showcased within the sport.
This season, participants will register at www.tahoevertical.com to start logging human-powered vertical feet and continue to measure real-time cumulative progress throughout the season. If the backcountry community reaches a cumulative goal of 15 million vertical feet, our sponsors will make a $5000 donation to Lake Tahoe’s non-profit avalanche forecasting agency, the Sierra Avalanche Center.

• 104 registered users • 5,792,894 total vertical feet logged • 1,827 total individual days • 3,171 foot average per day • Max event vertical (individual): 427,000 feet • Max one day vertical (individual): 17,135 feet
Sponsorship Opportunities:
Sponsors will gain abundant exposure to multiple demographics while also showing commitment to avalanche education and awareness through their support of the Sierra Avalanche Center. Motivated locals and a proximity to three major urban areas (Sacramento, San Francisco, and Reno), make Lake Tahoe a gold mine for brand cognizance and marketing. Varying monetary sponsorship levels range from $1000-$5000 and include extensive media coverage and logo placement during the event. Please full proposal for specifics.
