I’m guessing that many of our readers don’t know what the Celebration of Light is. Lucky for you I will describe: The Celebration of Light is an annual event where individual countries put on “huge” firework displays middle of the English Bay (downtown Vancouver). Each night a different county takes to the water (because the fireworks are ignited on a ship) and they put on a spectacular show, at the end of the two week event the judges decide a winner. The  above video is a time lapse we shot from the middle of the Burrard Street Bridge showing the hundreds of boats going in and out of False Creek. The time lapse also includes Canada’s show. We hope you enjoy.

People come out in droves to watch the fireworks. The city was packed, as it is every year. Busses are full, streets are closed…it’s mayhem. Lucky for me I got a spot on the beach to watch Spain’s demonstration. I arrived early and enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the coast mountains.

The Vancouver skyline is awesome.

The fireworks are set to music chosen by each country. The show is suppose to go along to a mix of songs and it’s really cool when they do it right. The show lasts 30 minutes.

This year China won…again…they win every year. I think it’s because they invented fireworks. Plus they always have to be the best at everything.

It’s no surprise that the country who opened (China) won the festival. Here’s a video from their show.

If you’re bored go back to the top of the post and watch the time lapse again. But this time watch the Water Taxi’s, helicopters, or the sky 🙂
