According to their website, the “Tough Mudder” is the toughest event on the planet, and its circus is rolling into Squaw Valley September 17th and 18th. Saturday’s event is already sold out, and Sunday is close to sold out.  If you sign up before September 1st, registration will cost you $130. If there’s still space after the first, registration bumps up to $160.

From the organizer’s, “Tough Mudder is not your average lame-ass mud run or spirit-crushing ‘endurance’ road race. Our 10-12 mile obstacle courses are designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. Forget finish times. Simply completing a Tough Mudder is a badge of honor. Tough Mudder has raised over one million dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project.”

Tough Mudder also posts this warning on their site, “WARNING: Tough Mudder is 3-4 times longer and MUCH TOUGHER than a typical mud run such as Warrior Dash. On average, only 78% of participants finish the event. Only those in reasonably strong physical condition should enter. See our Training Page.”

Even if you could care less about events like Tough Mudder, it’s worth giving their training page a glance. If anything, it looks like a solid program to get in shape for next ski season.

The Squaw course is about 10 miles long, and includes 2300′ vertical feet of elevation gain. Sounds pretty crazy, and pretty interesting at the same time. Anyone ever competed in this, or have any more knowledge they can share about how nuts this thing really is?

Here’s a look at the Tough Mudder Squaw course:

It looks like Mountain Run to Gold Coast, the long way up Sibo ridge to the Palisades, back down and around the C2 groomer, to KT, and back down to the base. Anyone already entered in this or thinking about it? Should be another fun weekend at Squaw.
