I was doing some “research” last night and I came up on these numbers.  They’re pretty interesting…and if you need the connection, here it is:  millionaires & billionaires like to ski and ride, own a lot in Tahoe, put a lot of money into the ski industry, and have a lot to do with the revenue generated in the Lake Tahoe region.

Millionaires in the San Francisco Bay Area:

– 224,800 millionaires between San Francisco & San Jose Metro Areas in 2009 (and there are thousands more if you added Atherton, Blackhawk, Palo Alto, Woodside, & more to it)

– 138,300 households in the San Francisco Metro Area and 86,500 in the San Jose Metro Area had $1 million or more in financial assets in 2009 (source: Capgemini).

– #3 on the millionaire location list behind New York & LA (#2 if you added up entire SF Bay Area)

– SF Bay Area has at about .07 millionaires per capita, just behind New Yorks .08 millionaires per capita

– 45 of ‘em in the SF Bay Area (source: forbes) (101 in from California, more than any other state)

-16 in San Francisco

– 6 in Woodside

– 6 in Palo Alto

– 5 in Atherton

– 4 in Portola Valley

– 2 in San Mateo

– 2 in Marin County

– 1 in each of these:  Geyserville, Mountain View, Blackhawk, Los Altos Hills
