Terrible News. Jeret “Speedy” Peterson took his own life today in Salt Lake City. The guy was a Olympic Aerial Freestyle Skier who won Silver at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010.

Born on December 12, 1981 Jeret was originally from Boise, Idaho. He grew up skiing and competing in aerial competitions across the nation, taking the Bronze three years in a row (99-01) in the Junior National Championships. He then moved on to compete on the World Cup circuit where he put up a number of respectable finishes. Jeret was a two time Olympian, first in ’06 where he placed 7th and again in ’10 where he found himself on the podium with a very respectable 2nd place finish.
Jeret will be greatly missed by all of us.
