Ween closes down the Grandstand stage at High Sierra 2011

The Music Seen
After High Sierra

Getting home from High Sierra, taking a short nap only to get up and edit photos is no simple task. All things aside. High Sierra was awesome. All I keep hearing from all those that attended was that this may have been the best High Sierra ever. What  a party! The music was phenomenal. For all those that continually wonder and worry about the performers…all I can say is everyone that plays at High Sierra kicks ass. If they didn’t they wouldn’t have been selected to represent one of the best, most chilled out festivals on the planet.

A raucous crowd eggs on the Dead Winter Carpenter's in the Vaudeville tent

First things first, Ween kicks ass. Their set closed down the festival and was the true musical highlight. Gene Ween is an artistic freak. Tahoe’s own Dead Winter Carpenter’s blew the shit out of the Vaudeville tent. Their late afternoon boogie was in full effect. Mick Jagger showed up and Josh Clark and friends laid down the whiskey induced, stupefying shred-fest that is Guitarmaggedon. Dumpstaphunk brought down enough late night, hard hitting, bass driven funk to last me an entire summer. Everyone cleaned house!

Mick Jagger shook his hips and led the Rolling Stones into High Sierra stardome. Was that really Mick?

For all those that attended, thanks for being you, thanks for the great energy, the awesome attire, thanks of the making this party is what it is. Special thanks to the “Shady Saloon“. With all the red, white and blue hoopla surrounding our country’s independence and its birthday, High Sierra is the best birthday anyone could ask for.
