This time of year when it is hard to decide whether to play in the snow or start up on the summer activities.  If you have the motivation, a lot can be accomplished in a weekend.  Check out  Don Watkins’ edit from last weekend to get some ideas.  As I am writing, the mountains are getting hammered with snow and last weekend there was a great effort by many volunteers to get the bike trails ready.   It is a playground out there and we are approaching the longest day of the year.  It is a great time to take advantage of what Jackson has to offer.  And even though the summer isn’t in full swing, there are still plenty of things to keep one occupied in the evenings.

Bike Away From Work Block Party.  Friday 6-8pm- Fitzgerald’s Bicycles

Bike Week is coming to an end and Fitzgeralds will be celebrating all those that were biking to work this week.  Bring your bike and mug and receive a free beer.  There will also be games for kids, and a bike raffle.  A great way to finish off the work week.  And nice work to all those that rode their bikes all week!  It wasn’t the most ideal week for that.

The King Street Ramblers  Friday 7:30- Black Box Theater

If you are one of the many in Jackson that cannot get enough bluegrass, this is a great show for you.  The king Street Ramblers will be the first music performance in the Black Box Theater.   It will feel like you are up on stage with the musicians. Arriving a little early could be a good idea because the lack of seating.  The show cost $12.

Spud Drive-In  Mon-Sat All Summer

After scaring the community and claiming they were shutting the operation down, the Spud decided to open for the summer last weekend.  For those in Jackson, it is a little extra drive, but well worth it.  This week the films are Fast Five and Soul Surfer.   Just be careful driving home, Vin Diesel could have gotten people fired up to live a 1/4 mile at a time.

Contemporary Dance Wy.  Friday and Saturday 8pm- Center for the Arts

If you are tired of blue grass shows or are sick of fighting through  a slew of drunk people to get a drink from the bar, this could be a nice change of pace.  Contemporary Dance Wyoming has paired up with musicians  Keith Phillips, David Halliday, and Matt Larson for a two night performance at the center for the arts.  The show will set you back $20.

There will also be a dance party after the show on Saturday at the old Blu Kitchen, now the Kitchen.   With a $35 year membership to Stage Door, or $15 entry fee, food, drinks and music by Emily Brumsted will be provided.
