Whether you live in the Bay, Sacramento, or are a local Tahoeite searching for surf you have to stop for some grub and suds at the Half Moon Bay Brewery. Located in the quaint coastal town of Half Moon Bay, right near the famed big wave break known as Maverick’s, the Half Moon Bay Brewery serves up fresh local seafood, handcrafted beers, and packs a chill Cali vibe to boot.

After a solid surf session what’s better than some good food and beer? Nothing, that’s right, nothing. Well, maybe some live music while you dine, which is exactly what Jillian and I found last Sunday as we walked into the brewery hungry, salty, and buzzed from a recent surf session. Walking into the front of the brewery its clear the vibe is chill as the patio is home to open air dining, a fully stocked bar, and a great view of the ocean.

After a few epic shows at the Shoreline Amphitheatre this weekend it was fitting that as we walked in there happened to be live music going on with the band covering a song we could’ve heard at Shoreline the previous night. This is something the brewery strives to share on weekend afternoons and nights, and people were stoked, sucking down drinks and dancing like it was one more Saturday night.

This place is comfy and has a sweet local surf vibe. This is my favorite room where the NBA playoff game was being shown. You can see they also had a fire going, and there’s a sick brand new gun hanging on the wall 100% ready to be waxed and paddled out into the Maverick’s lineup.

I mean, look at this thing,

it’s just gorgeous. Almost as gorgeous as this picture hanging on the wall as you walk in.

But you’re really here for food and drinks, right? Well, it’s not too cheap, but man is it fresh and worthy. There are usually at least 6 or 7 beers on tap, and a revolving choice seasonal beer as well. I went with the IPA and was not disappointed, but if you can’t make up your mind just get a sampler and go from there.

You can check out more of Half Moon Bay Brewery’s food, beer selections, and music offerings here, http://www.hmbbrewingco.com. My recommendation? The poke appetizer with some fresh fish n’ chips. Sooooooo good!

You can’t really go wrong at the Half Moon Bay brewery, and while it’s not the cheapest meal you’ll find cruising Highway 1, you’ll be stoked you stopped and splurged if you do. A great vibe, a cool location, and great food and drinks is the name of the game here. And with growlers and 22’s to go coupled with great taste in art and music, it might just be the best pit stop on Highway 1 between Santa Cruz and San Francisco to refuel yourself after a surf and some QT at the beach.
