NOAA Forecast for Telluride

Should be a great Memorial Day Weekend in Telluride with decent weather and the first festival of the summer season, Mountainfilm. Make sure to not miss the FREE films in Town Park every night through Sunday, if you have a festival pass or not. There will be some fun music throughout the weekend as well as a lot of hustle-bustle and events going on. Nice to see people back in town! And of course, don’t forget to have a cook out on Monday. It IS Memorial Day DAMMIT!

Friday, May 27th – 33rd Annual Mountainfilm in Telluride Festival. The annual Memorial Day weekend festival runs till Monday with films, presentations, symposiums, and events all weekend. Friday, May 27th – FREE film in Town Park: BUCK. 9pm. 88 min. Mountainfilm is presenting their new free to the public, outdoor Base Camp Theater in Town Park.

Friday, May 27th – Mohammed Alidu and The Bizung Family @ The Llama. $10 @ 10pm. “Playing for Change” fundraiser in conjunction with Mountainfilm. Mohammed Alidu was born in Northern Ghana into the Bizung lineage of talking drum chiefs. Leaving Ghana, he has lived in London, Madagascar, and now Boulder. He has played all over world, performing his afro-beat sounds in small clubs to large festivals and even for Presidents and Kings. PlayingForChange.com

Friday, May 27th – Mountainfilm Art Party featuring Lynsey Dyer @ La Marmotte w/ DJ Ryan Smith spinning. 4-7pm. Featuring art from local artists as well as Big Mountain skier Lynsey Dyer. We all know this chick rips and is HOT, but apparently she is an amazing artist as well. Makes sense really… LynseyDyer.com

Saturday, May 28th – FREE film in Town Park: Adrenaline Program! 9pm. Featuring 7 adventure sports short films as well as Life Cycles, a feature length mountain bike film. Shorts included are Berber Turns, Dark Side of the Lens, Desert River, Lundberg Loses It, Way Back Home, Wildwater: North Fork of Payette, and Yosemite Falls High Line. Saturday, May 28th – Toshio Hirano & Friends @ The Steaming Bean. 8pm. “Liz & Larry from Shade & Honey will open for Toshio Hirano, the subject of the Mountainfilm documentary Waiting for a Train . Hirano will bring his unique interpretations of Jimmie Rogers-inspired Americana Bluegrass and Honky Tonk to The Steaming Bean, immediately following the screening of the short film about his life. See the film and then hear the music!”


Saturday, May 28th – Andrew Wynne with Special Guest Roxy Cox @ The Bubble Lounge. 9pm. Born in New York and raised in Denver on folk, country, and rock and roll, Andrew Wynne plays solo acoustic guitar and sings original songs and classic covers.

Sunday, May 29th – FREE film in Town Park: The City Dark. 9pm. The final screening at Mountainfilm’s Base Camp outdoor Theater.

Sunday, May 29th – Dance Off Battle Royal @ The Llama. 9:30pm-close. With Mounting Fill and Timmy O until 11 and DJ Krittah until closing. AWESOME!!!

Thursday, June 2nd – Scattered Trees w/ deadrestless @ The Steaming Bean. 9pm-deadrestless. 10pm-Scattered Trees. $5 before 10pm, $10 after. These guys are out of Chicago and are in the midst of their first national tour. Check them out @  ScatteredTreesMusic.com
