Squaw purchases alpine

Rumors of Squaw buying Alpine have been circulating for years. The recent acquisition of Squaw Valley USA by KSL Capital Partners sky rocketed these rumors to new heights this winter.

How many times did you hear about this in line at KT this year?  I heard it a lot.  It was always some “highly credible” source.  An ex-boyfriend of your ex-girlfriend’s sister that used to walk your step-aunts dog in Memphis, TN who also walked the dog of the owner of the current Kentucky Derby winner, Animal Kingdom, who has a colleague who was on the conference call with KSL and JMA (the owners of Alpine) finalizing the deal between the two giants.

Regardless of the integrity of these reports, they continue to resurface and more so this year than any other.  Is there any believability to these rumors?  Should we be looking for signs of a take over?  I did notice a new sign at Alpine Meadows this week that said:  “Alpine Meadows – We Care 2.” Idunno, but that seems like a clear omen to me.

According to Unofficial’s “sources” KSL made an offer to JMA in February, 2011 and the deal is currently being finalized.  That’s our turn in the rumor mill and we are sticking to it.

What we really need to do is pool our “resources.”  I know how many other nosy bastards there are out there.  Let’s hear it.

What have you guys and gals come up with?  What have you heard?  Who have you talked to?  Which one of your twice-removed-second-cousin’s former housekeeper’s ballet teacher’s daughter overheard the owners of KSL talking about buying Alpine?

Why do we all wanna know so bad?  Simple.  We all want Squaw to connect to Alpine via Whitewolf.  That.  Would.  Be.  Sick.  Period.
