Kilby Court, Review of Kilby Court, Salt Lake Music Venue, Kilby, Unofficial Review

I admit it I am not the biggest fan of live music. Therefore, I have not been to every venue that Salt Lake has to offer. I have however been to the funky little back alley (literally) venue of Kilby Court. Somehow the people that own Kilby have been allowed to setup a decent little venue in a tin garage attached to a house in a hidden little cove in the middle of downtown. The other thing that is amazing is that they get some quality shows coming though pretty regularly.

The above photo is the entrance to this little gem. It is an all ages venue which is really rad. They don’t sell beer, but I was able to take my little cousins there two years ago and we saw Ryan Bingham with about 50 other people in the whole tiny place. Mr. Bingham won a Grammy later that year for his song in Crazy Heart with Jeff Bridges. You can get around the no drinking inside thing by drinking outside at your car. You can leave and re-enter as much as you want.

I have heard the Death Cab for Cutie and Bright Eyes both played Kilby before they blew up. Check out there website here. Here is a little sample of the scene below.
