Sometimes the deepest days are not the best days. I would argue that smooth fast snow, sunny weather, the right temps that don’t freeze your ass, but also don’t cook the snow, and a good peeps to ski with make the best days. Today had all four of those things. The groppel explosion of yesterday was followed up by a few inches last night and the somehow it was sunny and 25ish degrees all day in late April. It was a recipe for sickness!

I was lucky to meet up with 2008 World Freeskiing Champion from the comp in Girdwood, AK Mr. Kent Hyden on first tram and we top to bottomed the Bird from wall to wall until 3:15. The snow in Mineral in the early AM was epically smooth and we knocked out three of them by 9:25am. Then we crushed a Baldy before heading in for 3 quick laps through the Forbidden Zone. Kent went big all three times before uncovering the rocks that got Kenjiro last month. I was able to knock off a tech line I have been eyeing all year. I think I can do it cleaner, so I will be going back tomorrow.

Then we hooked up with Franky Pisani and hit up a Gad 2 lap before heading up to shred Baldy Bowl in the recently opened slackcountry. It was one of the best decisions of my life to go up there. It was an amazing line with amazing light/snow and I was able to ski it just how I would in my dreams. It is not too easy to actually step to a big line and crush it the way you want to, but Kent and I did and I am stoked about it. Thanks for all the support of the site everyone. We could not do it without you. Please spread the word about Unofficial to all of your coolest friend. Peace!
