Word has been spreading rapidly about the recent death of VT local Ryan Hawks. Hawks was skiing at Kirkwood Resort while competing in the Freeskiing World Tour. Apparently Hawks backflipped a 50+ foot cliff and landed in hard, set-up snow, not the soft powder he had expected. Ryan grew up in South Burlington and attended UVM. He was part of the Green Mountain Freeride crew. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Hawks family and Ryan’s large group of friends. Please keep them in your thoughts.
