If you are more of a Whistlerite than a Pembertonian (the division is often blurry but this review is directed at you), and you find yourself hungry in Pemberton, then a quick minute of deductive reasoning can usually reveal that you are in fact more hungry than the average person and therefore your meal will be that much more satisfying once had. I arrived at this conclusion because Pemberton and the surrounding area offers a bounty of skiing and sledding treasures, both of which have the notorious side effect of building ravenous appetites. Once your energy has been traded for glorious white gold satisfaction in the Pemberton wilderness, then make sure you get to The Pony Espresso. One humble, yet world-renown photography legend, Andrew Strain mentioned the spot after a taxing hut trip and I heartily approve of the restaurant. A homely local place, as most secluded British Colombian towns seem to offer, The Pony will surprise you with the delicious food. I am a functioning pulled pork addict and so that is what I ordered here. With a garlic bread bun, or maybe it was two hearty pieces of garlic bread with the compliment of pulled pork between them, who’s to say, the sandwich did the trick. Delicious. Add some local beer and the countdown to the NHL’s greatest power forward on T.V., and you have a combination that any self-respecting Canadian cannot pass up. I even glanced over to my companions once or twice and noticed their similar satisfaction amidst specialty pizzas, burgers and a good ol’  bowl of clam chowder. Local Andrew Strain got a pizza for those die-hard fans who follow his every move. So, next time you have a play date in Pemberton stop by The Pony and enjoy. Simple passer-byers may also eat here too if you happen to be on your way to the complete middle of nowhere and don’t dabble in extreme sport.
