After a day of shredding Kybers you will find me in one place doing two things. The place will be Dusty’s Bar & BBQ and I will be eating wedges and drinking beer. There is something magical about having potato wedges or a pulled pork sandwich a jug of beer with five of your best friends bragging and making claims about how “sick” the day was, all while you get blanketed by fat Pacific North West snow flakes. You are soaking wet from the day of skiing but it’s okay because the wedges are hot and the smiles warm. Your friends continue to emerge from the Kyber motocross track and as they arrive you hand them beers only to have them eat your wedges and liberally apply globs of your butt rub mayo, however everything is perfect.  Your skis or snowboard lean against the table and it continues to snow. The conversation has now moved days and your friends discuss the “sickness” level of tomorrow. Another jug of beer arrives and another minute in paradise passes. Yep this is Whistler and you are at Dusty’s .

Dusty’s is located at the Creekside Base of Whistler mountain and is the perfect ski town pub. Like many powder hounds on the mountain I personally like to end my day of shredding with a McConkey’s or a Kybers run… therefore I click off my skis at creekside base and take 20 steps into the “cabin like” Dusty’s or onto their expansive patio. It’s duping in Whistler (well it always does) and the patio is always open with equally as good service if compared to inside. Walk through the doors at Dusty’s and it’s packed and everyone is in their ski gear. Flat screen TV’ play ski and snowboard movies, like Dendrite’s “Out of the Shadows”, which features Whistler locals, who like you, also end their day at Dusty’s.

Dusty’s was voted Whistler’s best Apres for two years running and they don’t just cater to the “post skiing” crowd. You can enjoy lunch or dinner at Dusty’s and don’t be shocked if you spend a late night at this watering hole. I haven’t even discussed the barbecue factor of Dusty’s… but all I need to say that Dusty’s is the venue for the 2011 Canadian BBQ Championships taking place July 29-31, 2011

So if you’re ending the day at Creekside, (and why wouldn’t you because Creekside has free underground Parking) you need to experience a Dusty’s Après. To see the menu at Dusty’s click HERE.  And Please try the wedges*.

*The potato wedges are not only a locals favorite, but they are served piping hot with a butt rub mayo that can be equivalent to a gold like commodity in the food dipping world. It’s that good and you can always order extra.
