If you are looking for sushi in Telluride there are a few options to choose from, but only one option if you are looking for REALLY GOOD, delicious sushi. Hidden in an unassuming spot in a breezeway off Main Street is Telluride’s BEST sushi spot, Pescado! This place is a gem in Telluride’s food scene and blows the competition out of the water. It has a casual yet intimate atmosphere with a perfect sushi bar and a small number of tables creating a really comfy vibe! They have a super friendly, knowledgeable staff who also rip up the mountain during the day.

Their fish is always fresh, really tasty, and expertly presented. On the menu is good mix of classic, simple rolls, sashimi, and nigiri as well as some more inventive, fusion style maki. I prefer the simple rolls, but some of the more creative stuff is also popular such as the “Baconator”, which is salmon, cucumber and bacon rolled inside-out topped with eel and avocado. One of my personal favorite things about Pescado is their use of real crab in their rolls and dishes. Their California Roll is one of the best I have had because of this fact. Very authentic to the real stuff available out in LA and SF. Make sure to special order it with the crab instead of shrimp, definitely the way to go. Another great option on the menu is the raw oysters available on most Friday nights. These are typically really fresh, Pacific Northwest-style oysters prepared with Ponzu sauce. Really amazing and a nice treat in the middle of the mountains. A chef’s choice Omakase menu is offered in both 4 and 7 courses for $40 and $70 dollars respectively. Not bad prices at all to have head sushi chef, Brady Pitt prepare you a creative meal you won’t soon forget!

Pescado’s prices are very reasonable for the quality of their meals and they also offer a great daily special from 5:30-7:00, the roll of the day and a bottle of hot sake for $10! Pretty awesome deal for sure, thanks Pescado! Pescado is located in the breezeway at 100 W. Colorado Ave, out behind The Llama and are open everyday from 5:30-9:30pm.
