DEEP WINTER PHOTO CHALLENGE RESULTS

The 2011 Arc’teryx Deep Winter Photo Challenge is in the books. More like the Hall of Fame as the best slideshows to date were shown to 1,500 screaming skiers and snowboarders. The “oversold” crowd packed the Fairmont Chateau Whistler to watch six pro photographers battle it out for the sought-after deep winter title, “The King of Storms”.

I would have hated to be a judge after watching the slideshows. But in the end Blake Jorgenson took home the title. Robin O’Neill came in second and underdog Andrew Strain rounded out the podium taking third place.  Ilija Herb took home the award for best image of the night.

Thanks to Twitter and other social networking methods The Deep Winter Photo Challenge was all over the internet and all over twitter. There was mention of a friendly tweeting battle between teams. Check out #deepwinter in twitter to see the tweets. Mainly tweets from Team Strain (Steam Train) and the Tim Zimmerman entourage.

Again here are the daily videos produced by Unofficial Whistler as we followed newcomer Andrew Strain and his team “Team Strain (Steam Train)” around for three days: AND stay tuned for a wrap up video of the Deep Winter Photo Challenge coming soon on Unofficial Networks.com
