This is how Burns remembers the day:

Day one in the backcountry this season with the DOPE crew was pretty hype, aside from forgetting my goddam snowboard in my driveway. So about 45 minutes later, E Man Anderson, DOPE filmer Rob Lemay, and myself, Andrew Burns went out to a pretty mellow spot to get some early season grease. There was still a crunchy layer underneath the new fluffy stuff so going big was a little sketchy on the ragdoll factor, but we managed to kill it anyhow. First off, any day without major sled malfunctions is good. Then we jammed up on a couple soul turns, and some freestyle maneuvers on some natural terrain. So much fun, you have no idea. Little lunch break…pop. Then back to the shred. We sessioned a good natural line for a while: cliffish thing to windlip launch. Super sick, super fun. Eventually we had that zone pretty punished, but then some reds rolled up and roped out our in-run like huge a holes. Well, good day anyhow. Ha! Beats the shit outta riding the montain any day!!! Tomorrow will be sick…can’t wait.
