I had an awesome day skiing on the new Dynastar Legend Pro 115 this past week during the Telluride Sports free demo day on Friday. I have skied the Legend Pro for years from the original “glow” orange Race-Room ski to the XXL from the last few seasons. The Legend Pros have always had a reputation for being traditionally shaped, stiff, incredibly stable at any speed, a bit unforgiving and built like a tank. When I first read about the new LP 115 for 2011, I was a bit skeptical  when I heard they had softened up the ski overall, particularly in the tip and  added tip rocker. This was a big change from the previous versions of the ski, and I was definitely interested to try them out.

I skied the 184 LP 115 which has dimensions of 137-115-127 with 450mm of tip rocker, traditional camber and a flat tail. The ski has a sandwich construction with a wood core and layers of Titanal. They have a nice medium flex, with the tip being significantly softer than the tail, as well as any previous Legend Pro for that matter. The new white/wood top sheet is really cool as well, a very classic look. On the snow, I was really impressed with just how versatile these skis are. They ripped on the groomers, feeling really stable and fast, and handled the crud nicely as well. What really impressed me though was when I got them in some fresh snow and tight woods. They felt really quick and nimble, especially for being 115mm underfoot and very forgiving. I was surprised how lively they were and had a lot fun skiing them in tight spots.

Overall I was really impressed with the versatility and forgiveness of the  LP 115 and it definitely exceeded my expectations. From looking at the shape and design of the ski, you can tell it will be good in the soft stuff but just how well it skied everything else was impressive. These skis can really rip at high speeds and carve nicely. The LP 115 is a great all day Powder ski that inspires confidence and can handle anything with ease. I would definitely LOVE to add a pair to my quiver, I just need to make some room in there first!
