Snow Forecast was calling for light snow all day today, with 1 cm falling in the morning, and 1 cm in the afternoon. Personally, I took the opportunity to sleep in a bit, not expecting to find much on the hill.

However, conditions were a bit better than the 2cm of fresh forecasted today. We had a fresh 50cm of the lightest snow that has fallen so far this year.

It snowed hard all morning and into the early afternoon. The sun started to show itself later in the day, but the snow remained surprisingly light and unaffected.

Overall, a day that started with low expectations turned into to one of the better ones on the season thus far.

With my fluency in Japanese, I will give you the correct translation. “To ensure the safety meeting of all snowboarders, skiers not ride lift.” The untranslated section at the bottom is the real kicker, because most think it’s a Thank You from Mgmt. This may hurt a few of you, but it makes me want to go back to Japan like yesterday. It states, “You are not huge in Japan. It was better when you hated us.”

A lot of what I ski is accessed from the Happo-One ski resort in Hakuba. Not going to give away much more than that! Come explore…
